Flexitallic won for its Thermiculite 835 spiral wound gasket that replaced a graphite filled gasket that was routinely failing and causing extended downtime at a major U.S. refinery. Flexitallic Application Engineers suggested the Thermiculite 835 spiral wound gasket with heat treated X750 winding wire. With the Thermiculite gasket the unit has been trouble free and able to extend time between outages saving the refinery hundreds of thousands of dollars.
